The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will not renew the 10-months contract of the Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroeck.
An impeccable source at the FAZ told Ducor Sports that the Belgian will not be given another opportunity with the Copper Bullets.
The sources said Sven’s last assignment with the Chipolopolo will be the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Namibia next month.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “The national executive committee (NEC) informed Sven that his contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of March 2019.” [/perfectpullquote]
“The search for the new coach will commence now and we are looking for a candidate who will take Chipolopolo back to the glory days. He should be someone who takes us to the next level.”
Sven promised to deliver Zambia to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations when he was contracted eight months ago and declared that it was time for Zambia to start winning trophies again.
However, the 2012 African Champions failed to qualify for this year’s tournament, having only registered only one win over Guinea Bissau, drawing one all against Namibia and losing out on three games.
Zambia are currently bottom of group K on four points out of possible fifteen points, subsequently ending their quest and possible chances for a place at the prestigious tournament.
