Napoli defensive midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has signed a new-three year deal, the Italian Serie A giants have announced.
The 27-year-old Cameroon international joined the Parthenopeans from English Premier League side Fulham and has scored two goals in 37 appearances for the club.
His new deal, which runs until 2027, includes an option for the club to extend for further two years.
Anguissa transferred to former side Fulham from Marseille in August 2018, and was loaned to Villarreal in July 2019 following the Cottagers’ relegation from the Premier League.
He made his Villarreal debut on August 17, playing the full 90 minutes in a 4-4 home draw against Granada. On August 31, 2021, Zambo Anguissa signed a new three-year deal with the Championship club before heading out on loan to Napoli for the 2021-22 season.
In his first season at Napoli, he took part in the majority of the club’s Serie A matches, making 25 appearances overall and playing 1,925 minutes.
Anguissa was selected in the starting XI in 21 of these matches across their 38 fixtures and entered as a substitute on four occasions.
The midfielder moved to Europe at the age of 19 where he was signed by Reims on loan from Cameroonian side Coton Sport.
Anguissa made his international debut for Cameroon national team in a friendly against Tunisia on March 24, 2017.
He featured in six of Cameroon’s seven games at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and will be part of the Indomitable squad that will play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
