Zesco United Sign Uganda International Alfred Leku

Zambia Super League giants Zesco United have officially acquired the services of Uganda international striker Alfred Leku from Arua Hill Sports Club.

The 24-year-old was on the radar of a host of clubs in Africa notably Raja Casablanca, Future FC and Chippa United after being one of top scorers in the 2021/2022 Ugandan Premier League season with 10 goals but it’s Zesco who have secured his services on a one-year deal.

Leku is expected to fill the void left by Wintson Kalengo who retired from professional football last month.

“He  comes with a ray of features that could be of great value to ZESCO United’s quest to return to the summit of the Zambian game,” Zeco United described Leku in a statement.

The former Express SC striker has also played for Proline FC and Botswana top tier side Jwaneng Galaxy who once loaned him to Extension Gunners.

Leku honed his football skills at Kibuli S.S and St Mary’s SS Kitende before being signed by Vipers Sports Club following a promotion.

He was later loaned to another Ugandan Premier League outfit Onduparaka Football Club for development before he joined Express FC.
